Dr. Reddgo Long, Jr., is a higher education and nonprofit leader with extensive experience advancing nonpartisan democratic engagement, community partnerships, and institutional capacity-building. His work focuses on helping colleges and universities strengthen civic learning, dialogue, and participation through scalable, relationship-driven initiatives.

He has held roles across higher education and national nonprofit organizations, including consulting for the Carnegie Elective for Community Engagement, supporting a national virtual refugee resettlement program at World Relief, and coordinating grant-funded civic and community engagement initiatives at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Across these roles, Reddgo has managed complex programs, secured significant funding, aligned cross-functional teams, and translated data and stakeholder feedback into actionable improvements. He is known as a strategic, detail-oriented leader and trusted thought partner who brings deep knowledge of campus culture, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative approach to strengthening institutions and communities in service of a more engaged and resilient democracy.

Reddgo has been recognized as one of the region’s emerging leaders, highlighting his work on mitigating the Social-Economic Determinants of Health for fighting for the well-being of humanity over the years. He has paralleled a community-focused mission to provide low-to-moderate income citizens with the most current social-economic development information, public health, education, and public policy awareness on a community level. He was chosen as the 2020-2021 recipient of the Delta Violet Award in Economic Development for guiding his non-profit organization to provide for the community through outreach and programming during the pandemic.

 

Educationally, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Sports Leadership & Tourism Management from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, a Master of Education in Higher Education - Educational Leadership from Liberty University, a Post-Master’s Certificate in University and College Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.

 

Reddgo has devoted his life to working in the community to build and sustain hope while merging his lived experience with research and evidence-based practices that lead teams to growth and sustainability. He is happily married to his best friend, Dr. Sylvia Long, whom he loves dearly, and together they demonstrate an outstanding commitment to service and ministry.
